'Agriculture not only gives riches to a nation,
but the only riches she can call her own'

Farming Heritage

The farming operations have been the Estate's core business for many generations, with records of the same family farming back as far as 1400s. Its continued success is due to the experience and talents of Richard, 'Tiger', Rob and Stephen. Today we grow mainly cereals along with break crops such as sugar beet, field beans and oilseed rape and linseed. On the permanent grassland, we have a mixed suckler herd of Limousin and Belgian Blue cross beef cattle making it a truly mixed farming operation.

With varying soil types from heavy clay to light stony, the farmland relies on rotations and the expertise of our agronomists, Christina and Simon. The Arable Unit is accredited under the Assured Scheme for Combinable Crops Scheme (ACCS).

The farms linked into several environmental programmes which aim to deliver effective environmental management such as the Higher Level and Entry Level Schemes run by Natural England.
